1. What happens in this passage of day three?

Answer: John speaks of a new creation.

2. How is this related to the old creation?

Answer: The old creation was the heavens and earth and all in them told in the Genesis creation story. It passes away to make way for the new creation.

3. Why does John say “there was no more sea”?

Answer: One probable explanation, from among many, is that the sea was a wall of separation between John and his churches and that there would be no separation, for heaven is a community without separation, without isolation, without exiles.

4. What might this explanation have to say to us?

Answer: If heaven is a community without separation, without isolation, without exiles, shouldn’t we witness to that faith by putting that sort of community into practice now?
